Annette Valencia
A woman in a red blazer and jeans smiles outside the schoolSay hello to Annette Valencia, the fantastic Attendance and Registration Tech at Sam Hughes Elementary! Annette's journey with TUSD is a wonderful testament to commitment, spanning nearly 25 years and touching many parts of the district.

Her TUSD adventure began way back in 2001 as a student clerical worker. Her experience is broad and deep, including roles at Hohokam Elementary as a Music Teacher's Assistant, and even working with the Custodial and Food Services departments! She then brought her versatile skills to Sam Hughes as a Monitor and Teacher's Assistant and worked with EX-ED as a Teacher's Assistant in 2015.

Today, she shines in her current role, ensuring Sam Hughes runs smoothly! The absolute best part of her job is the students. "I enjoy the daily interactions with the students and families and know that I get to watch them all thrive here," she shares. Her greatest joy is seeing every child "grow and learn in a safe and rewarding school.

This commitment to TUSD runs deep—Annette is a true TUSD alumna, having attended Sam Hughes Elementary, Booth Fickett Middle, and Tucson High herself! In fact, a piece of Annette's history lives on at Sam Hughes: her second-grade teacher painted a beautiful mural in the school courtyard that features Annette! When she's not helping families and students at school, Annette loves to express her vibrant spirit through singing and dancing folklorico!
